it's totally plausible that someone who looked like Thomson stole Thomson's phone and credit card and booked entertainment on his union account, and that Thomson never realised that said phone and credit card were stolen because the doppleganger secretly returned that same phone and credit card without him realising. The doppleganger did this on numerous occasions.
