timber, you could still have bought coins. Although they may have cost more than spot, I suppose.
And coins are probably still the best way to go. According to my dealer, any coin that was ever legal tender still is. The Commonwealth has never taken legal tender status away from any Australian currency. He reckons that'll make them difficult to confiscate. He may be right, but I reckon the Govt will change the rules quickly enough if it suits them - but IF they try to confiscate, they'll probably start with bullion, giving us some warning about coinage.
