My gut feeling concurs with your two posts, so I'll go into phase 2 of my investigation - real digging.

Like you do, I hold WOW. I have 1980 units in my SMSF portfolio, which has 16 stocks in it - the largest by a huge margin being TGA. I hold even more TGA in what is now a TGA-only personal portfolio. What I want to do is locate a few stocks that are as good as TGA, so that I can sell some of the SMSF holdings and buy something as good as TGA, or nearly so, with the proceeds. I tend to hurl at least $30K at a stock these days, preferably more, because it is then worth the effort of getting to know it well.

"Good" for me means steady self-funded organic growth, about 5% dividend, and insulated from booms and busts. LYL is not as good as WOW and TGA on the insulated-from-booms-and-busts front, but I can tolerate some stocks to be less steady.

If a stock pays a dividend, I am happy to hold it for a few years, hoping for an upward trend later. If LYL becomes oversold on the mining-services-are-bad theme, it could be a good long-term investment. Anyhow, I'll write more when I have done my homework.
