It appears the max per year for gold production is 2500 tonnes. That was in 2001, and it has not increase every year... as you say it does.

Let us use 2500 tonne as the top.
China, based on my findind, is a 400 tonne producer now
China, as per above imports 500 tonne per year.

So we have China alone hoarding 900 tonne of the 2500 tonne produced each year (well, from now - or from the last year)

What does it mean? Well, I guess, according to you Skol, the Chinese govt must be stupid.
