Just back from a bit of afternoon shopping.
Woolworths is running a halloween promotion - skeletons, cobwebs and spiders. The main display was in the fruit and veg - there was an island display of pumpkins and in the centre was a life size replica of a freshly dug grave, complete with tombstone, a grinning skull and a voodoo like top hat.
I thought to myself - 'oh well, must be Halloween tonight.'
Wrong - it's not for another two weeks. So, all over Australia, for the next two weeks, shoppers at Woolies, will be exposed to death and and a depiction of rotting flesh.
This would appear to be a pretty good tie in with all the 'zombie in the USA' commentary that's in the media.
I for one would like someone from Woolies management to explain how this can be the action of a good corporate citizen.
How many kids under 5 are going to be in Woolworths with their mums in the next fortnight and exposed to these displays of death?
Why is this a good idea?
