well, well, well....looks like the DIY'er has had a couple of wins....
like a dog with a bone.....
I brought out the big guns...steel wool, stainless steel mesh cleaner, glass scraper, wire brush....and mineral turps...
I figured if the worst case applied, and I would have to replace that area of the dining room flooring...than I could do no more harm...
so I threw away the sandpaper, and brought the big guns in...
scraped away with a combination of the above...the stainless steel mesh was the best....then I poured a liberal amount of the turps onto the stained area.... after 10 minutes or so, I watched the floor peeling and breaking up like a skin.... so far there is a third to a half of the stain gone...
the elbow grease theory works...
I will go back to attack the remainder tomorrow....I believe I am going to correct my mistake
next, I sanded down the satin finish, in the kitchen area, and applied the matt finish.....I must say it looks very good...you would never know it has been fixed....
now I am confident I will be able to finish all the little areas, now that I know the Wattyl Floor product, in Matt finish is the right one to use...and melts in perfectly with the existing floor... thanks for all your help cheers
