Latham has publicly put it that the more they try to unprecedentedly tarnish Gillard the more will come back about Abbotts past. Latham stated the Liberals cant win that battle because their is up to twenty times more stuff on Abbott.

T thougt Abbott would be the undoing of the Coalition but even I didnt think it was going to happen so quickly.

Malcolm Turnbull will stabilise the position imo.
