Derby day has been a good day for me in the past. If you follow the good jocks, trainers and the late money you can usually do alright.
The Derby is a funny race. Being the race it is it's not always won by the best horse. Can't go past the fav, but I'll be looking for value. The fav and Hvasstan quinella and something each way on bossy's ride.
Hoping shahwardi and brigantin squeeze into the cup field but looking unlikely.
Might have a small wager e/w on sanagas in the melb cup. It's CC run was good if you understand it's racing pattern. It's last 100m was good but really needs to be racing outside other runners to show its best. Missed viewed a few years back after it's ordinary form leading up to the race. If Bart opts for a gear change on sanagas it might just be in the mix. Top 2 though are still red cadeaux and dunaden. A lot will depend on the track condition to. Mount athos for example won't appreciate a wet track, like all of the montjeus but if it is wet Americain just wins. Won't be backing it on any good rated surface.
Don't think the CC was overly sting this year and Americain and dunaden, arguably the best runs in the race, will face some stiffer competition in the cup.
