I don't think subsidies in Australia brought down the production costs of Solar infrastructure.The tiny market that we are would not have had much influence on dropping prices of Solar throughout the world.
Australia has never been a value add economy.This is the tradgedy of our Aussie mindset. All our best ideas get developed overseas.Even Silex stopped making its own solar cells because it couldn't compete. Why didn't the NSW government subsidise Australian built only, Cells and Panels.This is then called protectionism.So the flooding of Australia with cheap imports was paid for by our governments and around and around we go.This to me shows that our governments (advocate economic and technical freeloading on the Germans and Chinese). Australians are brilliant innovaters but most of our ideas only get support abroad.
Our higher standard of living in an Asian region will find its own level with or without Government interferance. So with CBD the news is good and lets see where we go from here.
By the way there is another company using the westinghouse type technology in Aussie,Tindo Solar Panels from Adelaide with the built in Inverters.
