On looking into this closer, it is hard to make assumptions on what Wei An is thinking, although I think it is more likely they are supporting the RSG deal as they WILL STILL BE NMG shareholders if resolution 6 is voted against. At worst maybe its fair to assume they are actually hedging their bets????
From the Resolute(RSG) substantial holder notice it says Wei An provided 49,099,020 shares towards that 19.99% holding RSG acquired.
From the Annual Report, the top 20 largest shareholder list which says information was current at 28 Sept 2012, shows Wei An to have a holding of 92,192,819 shares!!!!
So they still remain holding 43 odd million shares.
If the resolution 6 is voted AGAINST, just over half of their initial NMG holding has been transferred to RSG shares and they remain holding 43odd million NMG shares.
If resolution 6 is voted FOR, then Wei An return to holding 92,192,819 NMG shares as the share offer from RSG is conditional upon resolution 6 being voted against.(all shares acquired by RSG are returned to the initial owners).
