    hey all,

This is my first year buying a 'share advice' subscription, where they give you a 'buy-to' price, a sell signal etc etc on stocks they think will go up 100-1000%.

I thought i'd give you all a basic rundown of my experience, what my logical thought process was towards the magazine and the results.

Firstly, the subscription I chose was ASCI for short. I won't say more.

Basically, I didn't trust anyone except myself to make decisions, but for a low price of $90 for a year, I figured heck, I'll paper trade with them for a year and see what happens. I made a special commsec watchlist and enterred in $1000 per stock to see what returns you make over the year.

    Ok onto the Juicy stuff:

Total of 10 picks made into my portfolio.

    1 "low risk" punts

    2 "medium risk" punts

    7 "high risk" punts

The total portfolio is down $1467.33 or 14.67% on the fake 10k I traded.

    Low risk is up 15.4%
Medium Risk is even (down $37 on brokerage)
    High risk is down 23.1%

Overall a poor performance but it was a few of the 'riskier' punts that seem to let it down. So all in all I'm glad to have done the exercise and may continue to subscribe to see his medium and low-risk punts, often which pay a divi..

Also goes to show, DYOR and Paper trade if you do sign up to a service like this, so you know its weaknesses and strengths.
