Once or twice I've exactly done what you're advocating - 'Oh, give him/them the benefit of the doubt - come bk in 6 mths' - only to find the company ripped to bits, a shell remaining and the ex-directors living it up in the Bahamas...

If I knew that level of conniving was actually an asset used to engender trust between shareholders & the board rather than weasel around or simply not communicate, seeing me as an obstacle or sheep to be milked whenever it suits NC than I might very well have a different opinion
