I bought a Chinese DVD player the other day for $49 from Dick Smiths. It is so cheap that if it breaks soon, and it may well, it is cheaper to throw away than fix, but it is still great value...I don't know if China will slow down soon but Japan must be copping it in the neck. China is positioned where Japan was in the 1960s and 70s, viewed as cheap (but inferior) manufactured goods. But the quality is rising all the time. Remember when "Made in Japan" was considered to mean it was crap? Soon enough China will mean quality too.

Wait till the Chinese start exporting cars on a big scale. The big car makers in Japan and the US won't know what hit them.
