    I believe little I read re "projections". Looking around the world nuclear is commercially successful as evidenced by France earning nice euros selling power to it's neighbours and the US having cheap power to the consumer.

    Why not have nuclear? We have vast areas that are not on fault lines and our operators could be trusted to present sober and to stick to operating procedures thus we should be able to avoid the causes of the two accidents so far. Our geologic stability also means spent fuel can be safely secured deeper than it ever was before being mined.

    If that is deemed unsuitable, there is an old diamond mine in Sth Africa three thousand meters deep. Nobody is going to be harmed by anything that deep surely?
