    Hi Thorburn and all,

Can you imagine if the entire population of Australia had no income and relied entirely on the government for food? Double that number and then people can grasp that all is not well in the USA as I now understand the figure for US food stamp recipients has reached 47.1 Million

Even McDonald's saw sales figure fall in October, first monthly drop in nearly a decade for the world's biggest hamburger chain.

If the rating agencies in the USA are going to maintain any credibility they would have to be looking at the credit rating of Uncle Sam fairly shortly IMHO!

Back to Gold: I noticed Barrick Gold sees gold prices hitting $2,000/oz next year not sure why they are being so pessimistic maybe they are just being cautious as they are having some production problems.

By the way some may not know but one of the biggest Indian festivals that generally has a positive influence on Gold starts today and then Christmas just around the corner.

Diwali in 2012 will start on Tuesday, the 13th of November and will continue for 5 days until Saturday, the 17th of November.

GUWAHATI, India -- The price of gold this Dhanteras has been the highest in five years. But this has done little to mar the spirit of buyers, who are splurging on the yellow metal like never before. In fact, people were seen queuing up in jewellery shops across the city to buy gold, silver, and other precious metals.

The next FOMC meeting in December should be interesting I’m not sure just how many more financial tools Mr Bernanke has left in his box, if it’s just more printing dollars out of fresh air to buy worthless paper then I think the Barrick $2,000.00 call will indeed prove inadequate.

Cheers Sir and very best regards: Andy
