all this is just a different form of a tax rebate. Those that earn more get more. But it also allows those that earn more to play the system for everything its worth (fair enough, why wouldnt you).
It wouldnt be required if we had a fairer/simpler tax system.
Show me the party that is working on this and they have my vote. Unfortunately they all just tinker round the edges and make it more complex by bringing in this 'welfare for the rich' in an attempt to balance it out.
Just charge everyone a fair amount of tax based on their individual/family circumstance and cut out all the crap.
The raising of the tax free threshold was a great idea for those low income earners and helped simplify the payments associated with it.
It was also great for double income families in the middle income range, unfortunately it did nothing for a single income family that earns the same as the 2 income family.
Work out the tax for a family with 2X60K incomes as opposed to 1X120K income. The first family recieved their tax cuts for carbon compensation the second one didnt.
You cant blame the second family for chasing everything they can get out of the system.
