justis, there may well have be occasion when Abbot has come forward and retracted or corrected something he said. As for avoiding interviews I doubt that is the case.

That's classic, and Gillard IS open and accountable? What is her standard response? "I have discussed this issue and will discuss no further".
The electorate has had what, three years to watch Tony Abbott while an opposition Leader to scrutinise him day in day out, look for shortfalls or maybe a failure to do something? If it were Turnbull same would apply.
This is off topic, but, how long did we get to scrutinise and pick Gillard to pieces as a potential leader?
Ummm, zero time, zilch nada, she marched into the PM's chair uninvited...Australians just had to suck it up.
And, she is woeful, a pathetic whining public speaker with little grasp of proper English pronunciation that cannot tell the truth. I would not hesitate to say that if Australians WERE given a choice she would not be the choice.
