not a comment on ipod but on digital sound generally...
I defy anyone to produce scientific proof that in regard to realistic sound quality..digital is superior to analogue .
Yes I'm still a vinly/anologue diehard and while i appreciate that sound 'quality' is not deemed important to everyone, digital is still touted by those who shold know better as being superior to analogue.
It's not, and it won't be until sampling rates are so high as to be to all intents and purposes indistinguishable from the analogue sound wave.
The problem here of course is consumers priorities - portability in music is where the focus is and keeping file sizes small with compression is necessary for this, resulting in even poorer sound quality than CD.
