Want to improve your market performance? It starts with spotting the pumpers. Every stock has them. Here are a few tips:
1) Pumpers buy big, then set out to attack and ridicule those who are more objective. Since they are overweighted on a stock, they have a lot of skin in the game and are highly motivated to make sure the stock goes up....at all costs.
2) Pumpers only care about themselves and their own market performance.
3) Pumpers lie about their own performance in a stock (cuv forums have a few of those liars, claiming claiming they're only down 10% despite their all recommended 'buy this stock now like I did' posts dating back as far as 2004.)
4) Pumpers try to get everyone on an Internet discussion forum to pile on someone who doesn't pump. They make them out to be the bad guy, the griper, and the fool, despite that person's posts having a darn good track record of predictions.
Hmmmm...why do you suppose they keep reading their posts if they are such fools? They most be getting something of value from it. Otherwise, why spend years reading their posts even after they were put on ignore?
5) Pumpers post under different usernames on ALL of the forums they can find. They make it appear like there is an army of them who love a particular stock, when in fact, it's just a half-dozen or so of them. (Funny thing is, one of the biggest offenders of cuv pumps is himself a US army guy).
6) Pumpers try to bait others who aren't pumping and get them in trouble. They follow them around on the Internet. They are obsessed with the more successful traders. Secretly, they wish they could be a better trader.
7) The easiest way to spot a pumper is how quickly they attack someone who doesn't pump. They have a clear agenda - to try to drown out others who have a different take on things.
Pumpers obsessively read and respond to posters who don't pump. That's because their game is to make sure no more objective posts filter through all the pump posts. They quickly try to drown out their posts. Watch how quickly and obsessively they respond those objective posts.
9) Pumpers make grandiose predictions on a stock and never own up to their bad calls. They never admit they were wrong and are never big enough to give the objective posters credit on their far more accurate predictions.
10) Pumpers never appreciate the contribution of others. They are petty, desperate people.
Pumpers never win in the long run. Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be pumpers.
