This thread is about Clive Palmer's resignation from the Liberal Party and the comments he was reported to have made about threats made against him.

Given Palmer's status and his past interactions with Tony Abbott it is in the public interest to have the full facts in this matter.

As to your queries; our legal system is stuffed; abuse of it is rampant and access to it not so equal and not so fair! I would make many more matters 'summary offences', empowering our Police - as in traffic fines etc. No trial by jury under me - elected judges / panels of judges would deliberate only serious matters and be held to account.

Nor am I a defender of Julia Gillard or and her admirer.

But from a procedural fairness perspective it seems to me that the allegations against Gillard being trawled yet again through the media and Parliament is a bridge too far. Very old news being re-hashed yet again for cheap political advantage.

From harrasssment and smear they are beginnning to look like 18th Century witch hunts, 19th Century kangaroo courts and modern day public persecution.

We all know how well Mr 27% Tony Abbott handled Gillard's response last time round! Gillard may well strike back!
