Agreed Justis. All polls have have Gillard as preferred PM over Abbott and the 2pp is now virtually even stevens.
The problem as I see it for the coalition is that if they permit Abbott to continue degrading their 2pp they could then make it more difficult for Malcolm Turnbull to fully recover that vote. On the other hand if Malcolm Turnbull and Julie Bishop were to team up very soon there would be a surge to the coalition that would be difficult for Labor to overcome. At least Julie Bishop as deputy to Malcolm Turnbull would not have to suffer the indignity of having to fight her leaders battles simply because Abbott is so unpopular they are having to cocoon him.
