But another thought may be that we have like an excess of public servants by probably a factor of 3 or 4.

Too much non-productive & deadweight to shore up a base unemployment rate that - without them - would be truely horrendous.

Pare down the workforce catering to the enormous welfare industry and turn those funds towards homeland defense!!

Also lose the army, navy and submarines in their present form and in their place have:

1. A ready-to-deploy force for UN service
2. Nuclear weaponry for.....
3. Harrier jump jet squadrons based all along the Top End at secret and movable runway's
4. An effective border patrol
4. A Homeland Defence second to none including reserve duty etc....for all eligible persons

And send the message....if ya wanna come and take Oz c'mon...but the fight will be 100's if not 1000's of km's from here!
