Hi Hanrahan. agree fully with you and I would not put you in that neo conservative extremist group. After all around 2007 and before you detested the libs and the Bjelke Petersen Nationals. Posters such as yourself, Cerhob, Mistyrains, Alan Partridge, DaveR, Billy, Head, Dust, Bundy, Moondoong, Poyndextor, Debono, fahtso,Pecs and a number of others have been around for years and engaged in vigorous but non extremist debate.
From 2010, however the rhetoric from a range of posters has got absolutely stupid, offensive and extreme . Some sound like absolute conspiratorial nut jobs. It has nearly caused this forum to be closed down as an embarrassment to a fantastic HotCopper stocks site. Mods, including Debono(bones) tried to clean it up but too big a task.
The fact the the numero uno on HC (Yoda) would have liked see it go indicates just how it has been perceived. While I dont mind the debate its gotten to personal and there can be overflow onto the stock threads and that is not a good thing. I can tell you that if it wasnt for the stocks side there is no way I would remain just for the politics.
The argument that this forum is justified because politics can impact investment strategies is imo a hollow one. Its rarely discussed on that basis and the insults both ways(including by me lol) is not conducive towards anything constructive. The General forum imo is a much better forum than this because emotive subjects that can attract fanatics such as politics,religion and climate change are not allowed there.
Of course Hanrahan you are right that this forum wont influence anyone politically as most members steer clear of it.
