Giddy, as I understand it the zone is techtonically fractured already. The purpose of the Neon frac was to manage space for the ceramic bead insertion.
As we all know CA is a very active seismic area which can lead to collapses in brittle rock structure holding oil. This relatively new approach is being applied more often in these types of reservoirs. It theoretically reduces the sand/debris infill that caused the PD-1 well to stop flowing.
