With interest rates continuing to fall, the place to be is the dividend paying end of town, cba, tls have had very good gains over the last few months and every sell off has been nothing but an excellent buying opportunity for them.
On the other hand the resource and energy sector has done nothing but fall that's why the volumes are so low because people got burned in 2008, 2009 and have left the market and as price falls people lose interest and simply do not invest.
These days liquidity poses the biggest problem for me, the market is a bit like observing massive schools of fish, drop something heavy in the water and the fish get spooked and disappear. Watch what happens when a large sell order hits the market, the buyers all disappear and get spooked just like the fish. Then the bots come in an push the sp down with minimum volume.
So yes the markets have become very thin. Buyers confidence can come and go on a whim.
