It may not be a binding agreement from the military, Im not expecting one at least at this point but very significant they are showing such interest on such a high level. The Secretary of Defense leading a delegation is quite impressive and shows the prestige in which the project is held.

Though happily not having any wartime history myself my grandfather
( 10 Light Horse: France, Gallipoli, and The Palestine) and my father
(British Merchant Navy : Atlantic, Mediterranean: Pacific and R.A.F: England) taught me a thing or two about the need for energy security. Wars are pretty pointless things and if we learn nothing from them even more pointless. The lessons learnt from these wars in regards to energy and resources at least is be as independent as possible, have contingencies for disrupted supply and don't be reliant on potential adversaries for critical resources of national importance.

As the good Secretary pointed out in not such dramatic words, being reliant on the Arabs for our liquid transport fuels would be idiocy. We produce 80 percent of our own oil now, in 15/20 years it will be down to 20 percent.
The U.S have been in that dependent position for decades and the spending they have had to put towards their military spending because of this ridiculous situation has just about crippled their economy. They (The U.S) are fully aware of this and are spending billions searching for alternatives, both traditional and new tech including algae.

But you can do some research yourself if interested.
Google does wonders.
Stick in : U.S military algae and you will see they are well onto the potential. Try U.S Oil company algae or suchlike and you will see that big oil in the States is already invested to the point of hundreds of millions in algae to oil research and development.

The fact our Secretary of Defense did not point out specifics of our vulnerabilities regarding liquid fuels should not surprise nor should the fact he did not give an exact figure of military fuel consumption in Aus except that they are the biggest single user. It is an Achilles heel and always has been.

The military may not invest directly in AEB, but I can see potential for off take agreements and also further grants and tax exemption/incentives.

But look at our website and do some trawling yourself, you will see if the tech comes up to expectations in will be more than profitable. The fact it will help give us energy independence is only a bonus. Another bonus.

BTW Sdajl, I checked out what you had posted on lately. Seems you window shop a bit (which is wise) but the only stock I saw you were invested in was a mob drilling U.S oil. This is not biasing your outlook is it?
