OK am corrected, and made a call Ergon, who advised the Birdsville geothermal still operating.

Seems past its use by date, at times unreliable, but still producing :-)
Appears Ergon considering how to replace the existing geothermal and whether...
Perhaps we should all chip in to upgrade it so as to provide some good pr for geothermal generally.
