The well is not behaving itself.
For some reason the oil flow back has not increased with the flow of the fraccing fluid as it has been pumped out.
This could be caused by a number of factors:-
1. The Oil has combined with the water from the frac and emulsified and is blocking the pathways.
2. The Oil is in a tight sandstone/chalk or other medium which may need to be treated independently to get it to flow.
3. The oil/water may be impeding the flow of gas.
4. The fracc may have gone in a direction that was not predicted
5. It may require some solvents to get things flowing.
These things are happening 2.6km down a 100mm hole. It is a bit difficult to stick your head down to see what is happening.
The company has asked the drilling logger if he has any records of/if there were any fluorescence to indicate where the oil is coming from.
The company has sought advice from petrophysicists to try to solve the riddles in relation to the Oil/gas.
They are not sure whether the gas is coming from the shale or from the oil itself.
They have no clear answers at this point in time so it is pointless having the crews standing around burning up funds until more is worked out.
Kockatea was not one of the primary targets for this well.
What we have got from this is all bonus and people should understand the risks associated with this industry.
