    regrettably the WLP comes as-is as a leachate. We'd need to extract the Th & U as a separate process and then distribute them.

    At 6 bq/g we "only" need 7x dilution to get to the 1 bq/g limit with a margin for variability. So the bottom line would only be 420,000 tonne not 600.... phew!!


    Backup to the Backup Plan:

    I was reading the other day (but can't find it to recheck) that in WA waste under 5 bq/g can be used as landfill in appropriate conditions.
    Frankly, if the worst came to the worst, we can use other residues to dilute below 5 bq/g so it's not rated internationally as a radioactive hazard, ship it back to Freemantle by 'return mail' and dump it (eventually) in a bloody big hole we own near Laverton!!

    I suggested this a long time ago (in much more innocent times)!

    Note that the concentrate shipping is about 10 % of total coats (ref below); doubling that would add less that $2/kg to our COP.
