sorry, I didn't see this question when I posted. The reporting of shorts is a persistent annoyance amongst investors, it is after the fact (total positions are a few days old) and lots of questions as to how much under reported it is. It is also not readily available with most data providers. It takes a bit of work to keep up with it. You can start a thread on it any time and get lots of responses. Here are some links for daily sales, total positions and lending/borrowing.
