The situation for most Greeks this winter is appalling. Many cannot afford heating and many other basic necessities.people have lost their jobs, pensions and dignity. As a frequent visitor it is a very dismal place to be living at the moment and probably for some time to come. What makes anyone think that it cannot happen here? Most Greeks 20 years ago would of laughed hysterically if you had envisaged todays situation. Thirty years of appallingly self serving politicians and a political system that encourages the shit to rise to the top invariably leads to this mess. What makes you think the left & right of Australian politics is any better. We keep encouraging the shit to rise in this country and eventually the inevitable will happen. So don't mock the abysmal plight of the Greeks , but serve it as a lesson that we should all learn & understand about our apathy towards our political system and our she'll be right mentality about our living standards.
