    Lynas: We're Sorry Fuziah
KUANTAN : Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh have to apologize, not only to the people of Kuantan, but to the nation, on the issue of rare earth projects Lynas Advanced Material Plant (LAMP) in Gebeng industrial area in Madhya Pradesh.

Some politicians and analysts said the rare earth project is no longer an issue after the Kuantan High Court on November 8 last year rejected an application for an interim injunction Temporary Operating Licence (TOL) by three residents of Kuantan.

Although the government several times to explain the construction of the rare earth processing center in Gebeng is safe from the threat of radiation before, but it still manipulate political stakeholders.

Kuantan MCA chairman Datuk Ti Lian Ker said Fuziah of the Justice Party, have never actually do anything to the people of Kuantan.

"Instead of her success only makes local residents to be confused with the Lynas issue through the wrong facts, the issue dimanupulasi for his political interest," he said. Ti said the establishment of a Select Committee (PSC) on LAMP project have been proposed in the House of Commons on March 20, 2012 under Rule 81 (1) of the Standing Orders of Parliament.

The terms of reference of the committee is to examine security issues, health and the environment in relation to LAMP project, and reviewed the process and implementation of licensing and approval procedures based on the provisions of the law and safety standards in force.

Ironically, Ti said no use to sit on the stage for a debate on the issue but only loud crowing outside parliament.

The final report and recommendations of the PSC Lynas submitted to Parliament on 18 June before being presented on June 19.

"He (sit on) are given the opportunity to debate and discuss in Parliament, but he chose not to get involved, but he would rather go to London, ostensibly to study visit when the motion is debated.

"He is seen as unjust to the people of Kuantan from performing his duties, which is more important? Study visit in London or sit together to discuss the presentation and debate the issues of Lynas?" he asked.

Ti said the opposition also topped this issue has actually suffered as Hulu Langat MP Dr Che Rosli Che Mat from PAS, who are experts in the nuclear field, made a statement that he has long put up with manipulation opposition in the case of the Lynas plant.

Hulu Langat MPs stressed that the level of radiation the LAMP project at a level lower than that permitted.

Following actions are seen to sit on continuing making negative remarks on LAMP, several political movements and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Kuantan has lodged a police report.

Several NGOs in Gujarat urged to apologize to sit on LAMP on mistakes from lies and distortion of facts without scientific basis of the rare earth processing plant.

They want to sit on and the anti-Lynas emulate Free Malaysia Today news portal of publicly apologized on the issue last July.

Perkasa information chief Indigenous Organization Malaysia (Perkasa) Kuantan, Ezad Zainal said Fuziah have to apologize to the Lynas and the people of Kuantan.

"Kuantan MP has set aside the studies and opinions from qualified experts who confirm the safety of rare earth processing plant located in Gebeng.

"There is no foundation for the statements to sit on the Lynas but he just looking for political support and not in the interest of the people," he said.

Gujarat NGO Coalition Supports National Agenda (LEAF) have demanded to sit and anti-Lynas group apologized for the issue.

LEAF coordinator Emril Wan Nizam Wan Embong said his party is pushing to sit and anti-Lynas group apologized to the people of Malaysia and Kuantan residents in particular because of their previous allegations were not supported by scientific fact.

Kuantan Youth Council Chairman Md Jamil Pauzi said, other LAMP, sit on and the anti-Lynas have to apologize to the state of Pahang as well as the youth and the people of Malaysia as well.

Honorary Secretary of the Association of Youth Clubs Malaysia (MAYC) Pahang, Asmayudin Uyub said Fuziah should admit his mistake without questioning the scientific basis of the Lynas project.

"He is a representative of the people elected by the people and as a leader, if made a mistake, he should promptly admit mistakes and make an apology," he said.

Meanwhile, Kuantan Umno Youth chief Datuk Suffian Awang said the voters in the constituency Kuantan should wisely evaluate the actual ability to sit as MPs.

"It's almost a term, what is being done by Fuziah? Problem locals, matters relating to population, the state government and the federal government that deal with that, too busy campaigning to sit with Lynas issue," he said.

He said what is regrettable, Kuantan Municipal Council (MPK) who worked hard to overcome local problems, to sit on is seen as a false fish in water.

"I see a lot of issues he has raised as a representative of the people in Kuantan, while the issues are and have been addressed SLM. Whenever the module handle it, he claimed that as a result of complaints or concerns he had raised," he said.

Meanwhile, Chief Public Relations Officer of SLM, Haslinda Hassan said for the period January to November last year, a total of 4.123 complaints related to population problems in Kuantan as public property damage problem, the problem of roads, drains, etc. on local issues. "Of the total, 80 percent of complaints successfully resolved, 20 per cent were in the process of investigation and action, especially in respect of complaints of costs and certain provisions," he said. -BERNAMA
