Yes it has and is being investigated but I have my doubts that HFT will be banned due to it's claimed links to market efficiency. Like most retail investors I would like it to be modified to reduce the ability to scalp or preempt every trade I make. After all for the markets to thrive they must be perceived as a fair and reasonable level playing field not just be that way. I suspect the ASIC is investigating because the general perception is that HFT is unfair and there has as a result already been a reduction in market participation by retail investors and traders.

Lambda if we had any sense and removed our rose colored glasses we would all have shorted LYC over a year ago! It isn't difficult and honestly LYC has been a shorter's paradise! I have not shorted them in the past and at the moment I am reluctant to start this late in the game even with the down trend continuing.

But I must say my modest long position has been a repeat disappointment. Frankly if you start ignoring any trader/investor that has been shorting LYC there is a good chance you could ignore all the good folk on the forum that have been making money. Bad idea I reckon - even when we hold divergent views.
