Could someone help me understand how the basket price is dictated by outside sources?

Fuel prices are not calculated on the basis of what the car drivers want to pay for it!

Oil companies adjust their output to get the price they want, the same I assumed would happen when Lynas is producing....who lets the end user dictate the price.

We have almost 100 acres of land to store the end product on...Aussie farmers do the same with wheat silos they keep wheat stored until they get the price they want for it.

With China being an importer of rees in the near future we should be able to name our price...(feedback please)
