re: telstra - profanity filter needs scrapping There is no natural justice in having a profanity list if those who contribute posts, do not know what words are included on that list?? My opinion.

Be a funny world if roads had no speeding signs and motorists had to make up their own minds as to what speed they shoud drive at, to avoid being "booked".

All offending words could have an asterisk placed in them if neccessary, (T*rd - Ar*b) but a general ban on swear words is self explanatory. Yet, ferk me, ferk you & ferk the world, are OK. As you have pointed out, "turd" is hardly a profanity but becomes offensive, when directly used in describing another poster, when replying to him/her ... IMO.

    LOL !!

For a while there, the word ARAB was considered a profanity, so one wonders if this was an 'on the spot' determination by a moderator from the middle east??
It led onto the banning of the word "Yank" when describing USA citizens .... A word that has been affectionately used for many years here in Australia.

But describing someone as a "greasy" whatever, to me, certainly becomes offensive ....

My dog is a mongrel but posters on the board should not be described as such, IMO. Nor should posters be described as "the board moron", you are a moron, etc .... again, my opinion only. I am interested in further thoughts from other posters, particularly from moderators of HC.

That moderators remain annonymous is a moot point with me, as 'down ramping' a stock (for whatever reason - it's permissable) that "they" happen to be "in", may get you a suspension, I have reason to believe.

With aliases we all have, as such, does it really matter if poster "King Henry the Turd", declares himself on the board as a moderator??? - And is an expressed "King Henry IS a turd" then an offense ?? Not if you follow LOL !! behind the statement. Yes, it is a hard job being a moderator and 'reading between the lines' is probably a must have, understanding.

    Cheers !!

    :)
