MY answer is I don't know BUT.
I've been read HC since '97 when I bought my first PC, and if you go back to 95/6 copper was highly priced. A fellow named Hanamaka (known as Mr. 5%)from Sumitomo was found to be manipulating to Copper market. The result was that Copper was at an inflated price under his control.
Indeed this caused BHP to pay a princely sum (then) of $3B for Magma Copper, a US company that turned out to be pretty well useless when the true value of copper was applied.
Also about 1995/6 (before AUS sold their gold Et al), gold was having a mini run so maybe HC was somehow related to meaning gold. Indeed in the mainstream press it was a company called Carpenter Pacific (CPC) that was drilling at Mt. Kare in PNG (now owned by IDC) that was getting all the attention. The mainstream press (AFR) was saying the price explosion of CPC was due to all the talk on HC.
