The aborigines do have a history of armed defence against the occupation of their lands. One was Pemulway who at one stage managed to occupy parramatta, and walked away (parramatta was of no value to him). During the time of Gov Phillip they discussed pulling out of Aust completely, no food, constant harassment with the local terrorists (aborigines) etc etc.
And there are plenty of examples of white defense against aborigines. One was the Myall Creek massacre, the shame of which equal to any that of the german holocaust.
Remember that the aborigines called this land home for many thousands of years, and technically under law the british occupation was illegal as it was based on "terra nullius" (sp?)
Only recently were aborigines granted equal rights, and many have grown up within a dysfunctional family. Or removed from that family.
There is no comparison beteween the culture of the aborigine and the palestinian. Australians generally are not in denial with aborigines and vice versa. They are coming through a transition and are adjusting but it will take time.
At times it seems like throwing money into a bottomless pit but there have been improvements and people are trying.
