No! I didn't say that at all! I am neither Julia Gillard's excuse book nor her spokesperson. I can only offer my perspective on what's been made available.

After hearing the same material regurgitated whatever number of times it is now, it's apparent that the so-called news is not new after all.

Nor am I in a position to state what was or was not in Julia Gillard's mind 22 years ago; Gillard is the only person who could know that. I therefore have to rely on available documentation and statements from those directly involved at the time.

Gillard needs to be held to account for her performance as PM; raking over the minutae of her past is a distraction from that.
