Telstra displayed anti competitive traits both before and after it was privatised. The big mistake Keating and subsequently Howard made was not to split it into a wholesale and retail business. I don't have a problem with governments privatising such businesses as the government sector is inherently wasteful.
Much of the monopoly has now been broken down with competition but obviously we have a new monopoly on the medium term horizon in the NBN.
