re: big fear
Why don't they show the evidence? Time is danger and money surely.
The United States says it has "very convincing evidence" that Iraq still possesses banned material that can be used for the production of weapons of mass destruction.
Under Secretary of State John Bolton says Iraq has maintained an extensive program for manufacturing such weapons, including the development of long-range ballistic missiles.
His comments follow an earlier statement from Washington that it had a "powerful case" against Iraq involving allegations that Baghdad threatened to kill its scientists if they cooperated with UN weapons inspectors.
Meanwhile, Mr Bolton has also insisted that Washington will make the case about Iraq's violations to the UN Security Council at the appropriate time.
"We're certainly going to honour President Bush's commitment to go back to the Security Council and tell them what we know about the on going Iraqi campaign of deception against the UN weapons inspectors, and Iraq's continuing efforts to secure weapons of mass destruction," he said.
"I think President Bush has been clear that the United Nations Security Council resolutions have to be honoured.
"We certainly hope the council will do that, but we are prepared to do what we need to do to defend our national security interest."
