As for the Yanks not sharing what they know...let me give you a little history lesson
In WW2, the British had advanced info of the bombing raid planned for Coventry. Rather than compromise the source which was deemd too valuable an assett to lose, Churchill remained mute, did not take any action to tip their hand and allowed the raid to devastate Coventry == more than 1,000 civilians perished in that one raid.
If the US believes sharing the info will compromise their capacity to neutralise them - they will remain mute.
