Before people rush in and start buying any graphite stock on the basis of possible graphene demand, a word of caution is in order.

Graphene is, in principle, only one layer of atoms thick. In practise, there are usually several layers, but the net result is that 1000 square metres of graphene uses about one kilogram of graphite.

Given that current world consumption of graphite is about two million tonnes (= two BILLION kilograms!), there is some way to go to have a real impact on the graphite market.
