You are way off the mark if your saying blacktip only has enough gas to last THE CURRENT DARWIN MARKET for the next five years.
NT Government is caught in a 25-year contract with Eni that has a take-or-pay obligation. Chief Minister Terry Mills said the gas contract - signed in 2006 for more than $4 billion - would need to be reset.
While the company wants to take gas, Mr Mills wants to double NT supply - and a replacement source has not yet been found.
The fact of the matter is that pacific aluminium has asked to borrow gas from the territory government.
This would in effect cut power and waters contracted supply from the blacktip field from 25 years to 21 years.
You obviously know more than the chief minister as says that he is in talks with Santos as well.
