As large shareholders they will have much more management contact and therefore significantly more idea on the status of the business. Once in possession of that info you walk a very fine line as if you suddenly started lifting the stock to recent highs you COULD be deemed to be inside trading - however if you happened to manage to accumulate more stock below the recent highs then you could easily argue you had been buying for every day for the past x months so there was no change in your behavior. I see yesterday's shove as a last rattle of the tree at these levels.
Could be wrong of course and only guessing but spent many years on the other side so know a few of the tricks and yesterday was a change in behavior that I would interpret as a very bullish sign.
