Hi Beanpea, I am not a geo, so I want to ask you some questions after reading your post above:
1) I thought conventional gas wells have gas trapped in pockets or lenses and wells are drilled into these pockets to flow the gas up? Unconventional gas is trapped in shale rock matrix and needs fraccing in order to breakup the rock matrix to flow the gas?
2) Patchawarra Formation has a thickness of about 1km, one continuous gas charged formation. So what is the difference of fraccing a vertical well thru this Patchawarra as against a horizontal well of the same length thru this formation? Is it because better technologies for fraccing horizontal well than vertical well? Or, the shale in Napparmerri Trough will fracc better in horizonal well?
