These rates 1.6 mmcf/d from a vertical well are very good and naturally improving techniques and better zones will increase those flows even more as to be expected. We are at the beginning of an industry that other countries have had many years of experimentation in making it a huge success.
Besides a successful horizontal well should be capable of 5 to 10 times the vertical flow or say >10 mmcf/day (>6 bcf) recovery per well which based on our current vertical flow 1.6 mmcf/d should be more than achieved.
Horizontal wells are what have made shale gas a success so based on what we have achieved so far on a vertical well its looking good .
Beach shale is compared to Haynesville shale which produces on average 6.5bcf per horizontal well.
