So turning to this type of solution is the only way out heh?
what about reorienting your lifestyle first?
    - your kids don't need all the stuff you buy for them - phones and the like. as loud as you yell that everyone has one these days, they are still not necessary to function in society.
    - do you have pay TV?
    - how often do you eat junk food?
    - do you smoke?
    - do you drink?

    so on and so forth.

I'm not unrealistic, just sick of garbage like this being printed, popularised and then debated.

welfare is not supposed to make you comfortable and allow you to save.

wellfare is not supposed to support your vices and addictions.

welfare is not supposed to serve as a viable alternative to self betterment, or as a full time vocation.

it is supposed to help you sort out your life and keep you with minimum requirements whilst you reestablish yourself.

the story alludes to christmas spending - are you kidding me? if you can't afford it, don't buy it. Yes a tough choice, but really if you have to resort to stripping and prostitution to pay off christmas debt then your priorities are askew.

Australia's approach to welfare is the exception rather than the rule. The euro zone had a love affair with entitlements and look where greece ended up.

Not many people choose to be single parents, or choose to be in finacial difficulty, but people do choose to stay there, get themselves deeper or get themselves out.

making the excuse that people on welfare "still have to enjoy life" misses the point. welfare is not about enjoyment: it's about necessity. Life would be much more enjoyable for people if they were not on welfare to begin with or didn't rely on it.

    Glad I don't pay tax.
