I would rather live in a civilised society where the needy are looked after, even if some take advantage of the system and freeload. Pay the single mums and single dads a cost of living increase by all means and cut the baby bonus/first home owner's bonus and all this other pseudo welfare crap (ie vote buying) that goes to people who don't need it.
I am sure there are some single mums who rort the system. I bet my bottom dollar there are thousands of Australians who put their hands out for pseudo middle class welfare that don't need it at all...that is where the scrutiny should go.
