In the interest of fanning Merck speculation here's some random links...

Some Merck cogitations... I don't know if Merck buying Dyesol or a positive TATA ann will cause me to have a heart attack....(to be fair Merk USA has been an independant company since 1917 going by a blurb at the bottom of a Merck/Dyesol ann)

Dyesol Limited and Merck KGaA sign the agreement to collaborate on electrolyte development.
"...This joint development agreement is the precursor to
potential future commercial arrangements with Merck to manufacture existing and next generation
electrolytes for application in DSC. .."

Nanomarkets pretty clear discussion of Dyesol near term furure vis-a-vis Merck, Umicore etc.
Not pretty reading for dreamers like me...this has been posted before I think?

    Merck's DSSC page
Their blurb is almost the same as Dyesol's isn't it?
"...Our vision is to provide the best possible materials and material concepts that will enable our partners to concentrate on the design and construction of their unique dye-sensitized solar cell products...."

If Dyesol can survive in it's current form it would be a good thing - global warming is a reality so CO2 reduction by buildings that contribute 30% to total CO2 output is a good thing (unless your grandkids being able to grow mangoes in Hobart is really high on your list - gee, come to think of it, that sounds pretty good... :-).

Having a commercialising Australian based entity to capitalise on our expertise and capability (education, synchrotron, materials science centres of excellence, CSIRO embedded know how etc and all the goodwill and profile the Tulloch's created) in what could be the first and most far reaching and first large scale application of the burgeoning field of nanotechnology in the cheap harvesting of the sun's energy on the skins of buildings is a no brainer.

We need somewhere local for those PhD graduates to aspire to go to in order to change the world - make a buck at Dyesol when they leave CSIRO like the Tulloch's, or that new PhD stream at Monash. Who is playing with carbon nanorods and developing alternative counter-electrodes and anodes here? I don't know. I presume CSIRO is still playing with dye-ligand complexes as they were with the DYE collaboration? Or not?

I don't have a degree and I'm self educated but I know that the Platinum electrodes will go, that there'll be a leap forward in efficiency and longevity that will surprise everyone, and that a fully solid state and robust and cheaply manufactured 3rd gen BIPV DSSC solution is inevitable. The researchers worldwide are executing natural selection on materials, methods and processes at an astonishing rate based on my google searches. The question is does the vision and determination remain in Australia for us to have a locally owned commercial entity to firstly create and secondly commercialise this technology still?

I already know the vision and determination to make the board accountable to the shareholders is a glorious dream reflected in the sparkling eyes of most ASX participants seeking to maximise their superannuation to the benefit of their grandchildren so they can buy airline tickets and fly overseas to work for Merck and the like.

Hopefully this vision still extends to Dyesol so I can get my money back and send my grandkids to Germany or Sweden... lol... or they open an office here to cheaply harvest the low hanging fruit of our education system and expertise and funnel the IP back home... lol. I just hope someone somewhere has the imagination and vision and blood on the claw to capitalise on efforts to date and keep this local venture going but without cornerstone investment or a game changing TATA ann (Pilkington still way too early?) we need bridging finance from the government - the dole.

End of rant... gee, how's that share price? what's that all about?

    yeah baby...
