Don't pay attetion to my sentiment disclosure. It could just be a misclick. I've come this far, so probably should look at their gold assets, see if there's anything worth getting excited about on that front.

V8 here's the scale as I understand it:

-immature: Organic material present
-mature for oil: The organic material, at some historical past, has seen sufficient burial depth, pressure and heating to generate oil from the organic material.
-mature for gas: Likewise but undergone more extreme heating to cook the oil into gas
-overmature: The gas has been overcooked so there's nothing left over.

The Arckaringa is in the immature stage, and in between immature/mature for oil at best.

The Arrowie basin (which is of more interest to NGV) ranges from immature to overmature, ie. portions of it will be prospective for oil, some for both and some of it for gas. But as noted, the TOC values for samples analysed thus far from the Arrowie are low, which indicates the source rock is poor in organic material. Look at BPT and the hammering it received last week due to low gas flow rates, I don't think NVG have a target worth pursuing yet to justify the cost of a drill... but who knows.
